The Boston Bruins are having a season that's well below their standards, and with the Wild Card race in the Eastern Conference so tight, there's a chance that they could miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
As a result, there's been plenty of speculation surrounding some of their top names, with captain Brad Marchand consistently linked to a blockbuster trade sometime this season.
While he's made it clear that he wants to be a Boston Bruin for life, his latest comments appear to suggest that he's coming to accept the idea that it may become a reality, although he has just one thing he wants from the team if that does happen.
According to Marchand, he simply wants the team to tell him if a trade is coming, and if the season doesn't turn around soon, there's a very good chance that they test the market for their 36-year old captain.
In 57 games this season, Marchand has tallied 20 goals and 44 points, showing that he's still an incredibly consistent producer at the NHL level, and with the team relying on him as a leader, it's clear that it's best for both parties if he sticks around.
Ultimately though, the Bruins have one of the worst prospect groups in the entire NHL, and if they want to prioritize building a team for the future, then perhaps moving Marchand is the right move, and with him seemingly accepting a move in his recent comments, this is a situation to keep a very close eye on.
