Bruins forward Matthew Poitras shared a special story today revealing he grew up as a fan of the Leafs ahead of tonight's matchup against the team.

Poitras spoke to reporters after morning practice where he revealed that he will have lots of family and friends in attendance tonight. The Ajax, Ontario native also revealed that he and his friends grew up as Leafs fans so tonight's game is a little extra special for him. All of this points to the fact that he will be putting in his best effort tonight.

"I was kind of a Leafs fan growing up so I wanna be my best and beat the Leafs All my buddies are Leafs fans so I'm sure they will all be watching. All my friends are Leafs fans, whole family friends a lot of them are Leafs fans. Knowing friends and family are watching you wanna go out there and do your best."

Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery promoted Poitras to the second line for the game where he will play alongside captain Brad Marchand and Charlie Coyle. It is his first opportunity playing this high in the lineup this season, so he should have a chance to score his first goal of the season.

Last year, Poitras appeared in 33 games for the Bruins, eating up his rookie status so he is not eligible for the Calder despite his limited experience in the league. He had 5 goals and 10 helpers for 15 points in that stretch. He has 2 assists through six games this season.

It is already crunch time for the Bruins as they currently sit in 7th place in the Atlantic division with a 3-4-1 record. Some fans may be beginning to panic as their championship window appears to be closing. After all, this could very well be Brad Marchand's last year with the Bruins as he is on an expiring contract. Furthermore, tensions seem to be growing between Marchand and head coach Jim Montgomery. Earlier this week, Montgomery laid into Marchand for a sloppy turnover that resulted in a goal against. When the team is winning, these things often go unnoticed, but when they are struggling, everything becomes under the magnifying glass. Be sure to tune in tonight to see how Marchand and Poitras respond and work together as they attempt to get back to a .500 record.
