The Boston Bruins are in a battle for the top seed in the Eastern Conference heading down the final stretch. After two losses, the Bruins head coach has decided to turn the heat up on his players.

After an offseason where the Boston Bruins lost several key players including David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron fans and media expected a falloff from the team. Instead, the Boston Bruins decided to keep their foot on the gas pedal and have consistently stayed one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. However, the past couple of games have not been kind to the Bruins losing to the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers.

In their first loss of this stretch, the Bruins were stomped by the New York Rangers 5-2. In that game, the Bruins allowed a hat trick from Artemi Panarin which sealed their fate.

After just one night off the Bruins would have a chance for redemption against the Philadelphia Flyers and once again fall flat. This time the team would lose in a more respectable fashion falling 3-2 to the desperate Flyers team looking to keep their spot in the playoffs.

Since these pair of losses, Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery has decided to take a new approach to try and get his group back on track.

During the Boston Bruins' most recent practice, the media took note of something different from the team during practice. Several reports witnessed Jim Montgomery not happy with the teams' efforts and yelling at them to get going.

Jim Montgomery was not happy with that last drill.

«Wake the f- up!»

Here come the sprints.

For those who follow the Bruins this jump in intensity and expectation should not be surprising. Just yesterday during a press conference Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery spoke about the intensity and expectations increasing for the rest of the season.

I just told the team, that's what we have to get used to. That's what it's going to be the rest of the year, Montgomery said of the extra physicality and desperation on Saturday. So, you have to have second and third efforts to create offense, and you have to be desperate getting back above the puck defensively.

After last year's disappointing first-round exit the Boston Bruins led by Jim Montgomery are likely going to find a lot more desperation and physicality by the time game one of the first round comes along.
