For two years now, the Colorado Avalanche have wondered about the future of their captain Gabriel Landeskog, and in recent times, positivity has emerged, as his return to the ice has made many believe he could be on the verge of a return. Now, the 32-year-old has addressed the situation himself, revealing that it's simply a matter of when, not if he will return in the very near future.
The date has yet to be confirmed, but according to the report of what Landeskog told a fan it may not be Game 1 or 10, but should likely be by Game 20, giving him at least half of the season will feature No. 92. With the team missing Valeri Nichushkin for at least the first two months of the season, this should be a major boost for the Avalanche that have failed to live up to expectation in the past few years, and if he can bring his leadership and production back to the top-six, they'll be a genuine threat once more.
In his last full season back in 2021/22 when the team won the Stanley Cup, Landeskog tallied 30 goals and 59 points in just 51 games played, so if he can put up similar numbers this season, there's no doubt that this team will be much better than we saw a season ago.
