The New Jersey Devils defenseman Simon Nemec got injured in an Olympic qualification game between Slovakia and Hungary.

With NHLers allowed to compete in the Olympics again, a lot of players are getting ready to help their country to go all the way and win a gold medal at the 2026 Winter Games in Italy.

Right now, multiple countries are battling to in the Olympic qualifications, including Slovakia.

Unfortunately, Simon Nemec, a Slovakian player of the New Jersey Devils got injured during a game.

The insider Tomas Prokop revealed that the defenseman had to leave the game after an accidental collision with the boards, with what looked like an upper-body injury.

He also reported the words of the Slovak team doctor Pavol Lauko, saying that nothing was dislocated or broken, but that it's painful, and that more tests will be done before they decide if he can take part in Slovakia's next game, on Sunday, against the Kazachstan.

Later, he added that the defenseman will need permission from the New Jersey Devils to return to the lineup:

"He will need permission from Devils managment to play."

If the organization fears that he could aggravate his injury before the start of the training camp, they could decide to repatriate him to New Jersey, forcing him to miss the rest of the Olympic qualification tournament.

Updates will follow.
