The Pittsburgh Penguins are in an interesting spot with just over three weeks until the trade deadline, and now, things have got even more difficult with a recent injury.
While there's a chance the Pittsburgh Penguins look to make a playoff push with this veteran core, it appears they may instead look to sell some of their top assets as they build for a future after Sidney Crosby.
Unfortunately, one of those top assets has now suffered an injury, as Jake Guentzel didn't play the final 12 minutes of the teams latest loss, giving major concern to the organization and fans that he has suffered a major injury.
Jake Guentzel did not play the final 11:58 of Pittsburgh's 5-2 loss to Florida. Head coach Mike Sullivan says the forward is being evaluated for an upper-body injury.
Will the Penguins look to move Guentzel at the deadline?
There's no guarantee's that Pittsburgh were looking to move Guentzel, as he could re-sign with the team long-term, but at this point, the smartest move for this organization is to recoup assets for the future.
There's been no updates on his health thus far, but with 51 points in 49 games played this year, Guentzel is a huge asset for the Penguins, and is one of the top stars on the trade market, so they'll be hoping for good news once he's been evaluated.
