Marc-Andre Fleury Reveals Trade Plans In Interview
The Minnesota Wild are in a tough position this year. The team has serious playoff hopes coming into the season, but things have not gone that way. Now they face some tough decisions as they head towards the March 8th trade deadline.
Minnesota Wild Goaltender Reveals Plans For Trade Deadline
One player that has consistently been in trade rumors this season is Marc-Andre Fleury. The veteran netminder is on an expiring contract. In fact, this could be his final season in the NHL altogether. As such, the Wild will likely be looking to trade him before the trade deadline. The goaltender revealed his plans himself in a recent interview.
"Every year, when players' contracts come to an end, names of pending free agents always come up in the rumors to be on the move. For me, my team is Minnesota. We have such a good group of guys and great chemistry. I've been here for over two seasons. I'm not thinking about leaving or going somewhere else. I want to continue to fight with my team to try to make the postseason."
Wild face Tough Decision With Future Hall Of Fame Goaltender
Clearly, the veteran netminder is not planning on going anywhere other than Minnesota. However, while he says all the right things in this interview, there is the harsh reality of the situation. The Wild will most likely be outside of the playoff picture come the trade deadline. Will Fleury still be singing the same tune then?
While Fleury has showed some signs of his age this year, he has still put up respectable numbers. The future Hall of Famer has shown he still has it with some clutch moments in his 38-year-old season.
Unreal save from Marc-Andre Fleury
There will certainly be some interest in the netminder when the trade deadline approaches, especially considering how thin the market is at the position. Whether or not the team will move him remains to be seen.
