Morgan Rielly has dominated headlines in the NHL recently after a cross-check to the head of Ottawa Senators young standout Ridley Greig, and now, Evander Kane of the Edmonton Oilers has had his say.

A Canadian rival weighs in on the Morgan Rielly fiasco

Unsurprisingly, when asked about the situation, Evander Kane praised both sides, revealing that he believes the slapshot was entertaining but certainly deserved a massive response.

The Slapshot [Smirks]. You know I don't have any issues with it, I think it's Great. But at the same time, as alot of people would say; the Reilly Response was Appropriate. I am sure he wasn't trying to cross-check the guy in the Head. You know sometimes alot of these cross-checks ride up the shoulder, and end up hitting guys in the head, you know, l've had that happen to me (before in the past).'

'You know, I think, it's Entertaining (Entertainment). I think it's Good for the Game. You know, if I'm Toronto I don't Love it, and I am probably going to respond the same way. Either way, it's Entertaining!

Kane would then go on to say that he would have reacted too, but like Rielly, he wouldn't be purposely targeting the face with a cross-check, as it's a very dangerous situation.

A polarizing moment for the NHL

One thing is for sure surrounding this incident and that is that everyone appears to have an opinion on what happened, whether that's in support of Rielly or chastising him for such a dangerous move, with Kane being no different.

Ultimately, it was an incredibly dangerous move from the Maple Leafs defenseman, and given how the NHL has looked to move on from this type of physicality, the suspension was certainly the right move to make from the league.
