Last month, Los Angeles was devastated by the Palisades and Eaton Fires, which burned tens of thousands of structures and forced evacuations for hundreds of thousands of people.
The entire city was affected as even one of the LA Kings home games was postponed due to the efforts to stop the spread of the flames.
Now the city is starting the process of rebuilding, and the NHL and Kings are doing their part to give back to the community.
Today, the team announced a special event called 'Skate for LA Strong' that will serve as a fundraiser for the affected communities.
The league was able to put together a star-studded cast for the event, getting celebrities including Steve Carell and Justin Bieber to headline it.
Of course, the event would not be compete without some famous hockey players as well, so many greats including Mark Messier, PK Subban, Rob Blake, Jeremy Roenick, and many more will be participating in the event.
It will also feature four teams playing in a mini tournament with celebrity head coaches including Snoop Dogg and Danny Devito.
Of course, it would be such a great story if the Kings could go on some kind of run this season, and perhaps this event could serve as a little extra motivation.
The team currently sits in 3rd place in the Pacific Division with 65 points through 53 games.
Adrian Kempe leads the team with 25 goals and 46 points.
be sure to stay tuned as more details of the special event are released by the NHL and the Kings.
