Seth Jones' time as a Chicago Blackhawk looks to be nearing its end based on his recent comments he made, adding intrigue as the trade deadline nears.

Seth Jones was in no uncertain words about what was taking place and wants out from Chicago and doesn't see a future as a Blackhawk.

He explained that he and his agent, Pat Brisson, are working "to move the needle a little bit more," and that is the reason why he made his trade request on the record recently.

"I've been here the last four years through probably the darkest times the Blackhawks have seen for a while. I think things are moving up, they are moving forward. But I think my timeline might be different than Kyle (Davidson) and Norm's (Maciver) and the Blackhawks. There's nothing against anybody. I'm not holding it against anybody what they decided to do here. Sometimes it's not in everyone's plans.

"Obviously, this is my fourth year here. I'm not going to go through the whole process when I signed. Just where I'm at, you know, 30 years old, I still have some good years ahead. I want to hope to maybe be in a situation where I'm competing for a Stanley Cup, at least playing some meaningful games in May and hopefully June. That's where I am right now. Discussions with the agent and stuff like that have been going on. Obviously, there's a lot of moving parts to something like this. But it is what it is, kind of, right now."

Jones' high cap hit could cause trade issues

But he also stated his high cap hit makes a trade difficult to finalize, and thus is not completely waiting on a trade on or before the March 7 NHL Trade Deadline.

"If it happens in the next two weeks, then it happens. If it's this summer or later on, it is what it is. Obviously, I have a full no-movement and I do control it. At the same time, we only control so much."

Jones' preference would be to play in a playoff game on a regular basis and really have a legitimate hope at a Stanley Cup, something in his eyes may be a little down the way in Chicago.

Now it is in the hands of the Blackhawks whether they are going to make a trade in anticipation of the deadline.
