Meredith Gaudreau shares heartwarming message after tribute at Four Nations faceoff with Team USA
Johnny Gaudreau's wife Meredith shared messages for the fans upon seeing the tributes made to Johnny Gaudreau by Team USA at the Four Nations faceoff.
Team USA may have come up short at the Four Nations tournament, but it was still an opportunity to honor Johnny Gaudreau one more time.
The hockey world lost Johnny and his brother Matthew last summer when they were struck while riding their bikes by a drunk driver.
What makes the story even more sad though is the fact that this happened just a day before his sister's wedding.
During the event, Team USA honored Johnny every game by having his jersey in the locker room.
Matthew Tkachuk spoke to reporters about him, saying how much his absence is felt.
He noted that Johnny would have been there playing with the team, and that he was looking down on them.
"You get emotional, because he should be here with us - competing and playing for his country. And we don't take this opportunity for granted. ... He's with us. He's looking down on us."
Johnny's wife Meredith has noticed these tributes throughout the tournament, and has shared her favorite moments with us.
She also revealed that she was feeling emotional in the stands as the whole arena chanted Johnny's name.
She also noted that she will show these videos to her kids when they are old enough.
Johnny and Meredith have two children together and she is currently expecting their third child.
Johnny had 43 points in 40 career games playing for Team USA in the world championships.
