Phil Kessel was just given a massive opportunity to make a comeback to the NHL, however, after his first skate with Vancouver, that future is now in question.

Kessel Looked Visibly Gassed During First Practice With Vancouver

Kessel was one of the biggest question marks when it came to this summer's free agency. After he remained unsigned as the season started, things started to die down for Kessel, that was, until he was given the opportunity to skate with Vancouver's AHL affiliate the other day.

However, the first skate didn't go as well as Kessel would have likely hoped. Kessel could be seen visibly tired during the practice, hunched over, which had some reporters concerned that he would need a conditioning stint in the AHL before joining an NHL team.

Kessel Given Opportunity to Join Potential Stanley Cup Contender

Somehow, Phil Kessel has found himself sneaking his way into another potential Stanley Cup frontrunning team. The Canucks have emerged as one of the favourites to make a push this post-season, and it appears Kessel is getting his foot in the door at the perfect time.

However, it could prove difficult for the Canucks to add Kessel to the roster without losing someone to waivers. With Kessel's Stanley Cup experience, we will see if the Canucks are willing to risk it to add him to the Roster.
