Brad Treliving has already done wonders for the Maple Leafs blueline this off-season, adding the likes of Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Chris Tanev among others, but according to reports, he may not be done adding to his roster.
According to NHL Trade Rumours on X, the Maple Leafs and the Seattle Kraken have been working on a deal that would send Adam Larsson to Toronto.
The Leafs don't really need anymore help on the back end, but adding a defensemen like Adam Larsson is hard to say no to, especially if the trade centres around Timothy Liljegren, who Larsson could easily replace in the Leafs Top 4. Adding Nick Robertson to the trade would most certainly get a deal done, however the Leafs may be inclined to ask for more than just Larsson if they include both Liljegren and Robertson.
Acquiring Larsson would take a lot of the defensive pressure off of Chris Tanev, who right now seems primed to play a lot of minutes in key moments for the Leafs, so acquiring another defensive minded defender could help ease Tanev's burden and lessen the likelihood of injuries, something that has been a concern in Tanev's career.
It will be interesting to see if Brad Treliving decides to make another move, or if he is content with his roster heading into training camp.
