The career of Max Pacioretty has been on a downward trajectory in recent years due to injury, but now the 35-year-old has a clean bill of health after returning and tallying 23 points in 47 games with the Washington Capitals a year ago. Now, he remains one of the league's premiere free agents, and according to reports, is weighing up deals from three different teams, with his ultimate decision to be revealed in the very near future ahead of training camp.
In the report, Frank Seravalli doesn't name the three teams eyeing up the veteran forward, with reports since linking him to the Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres, and San Jose Sharks. All of those teams would be interesting fits for Pacioretty, but with many teams needing veteran help as they chase the Stanley Cup, he would be a significant addition for any team fitting the billing as a potential playoff contender. Pacioretty last played in over 60 games back in 2019/20 with Vegas, tallying 44 points in 71 games played in that season, showing he can still get it done.
At 35 years old with 902 games under his belt, there's plenty of value in him purely as a leader at the NHL level, but wherever he lands, we will know as soon as he makes his decision before training camp begins.
