Two Players Officially Have Their Contract Terminated Per Elliotte Friedman
Brandon Saad was waived on Tuesday, and now, the Utah Hockey Club and St. Louis Blues have both waived players for the purpose of contract termination.
The St. Louis Blues kicked off a hot day on waivers in the NHL by announcing that Brandon Saad is headed to waivers, with the $4.5 million forward set to draw plenty of interest in the next 24 hours.
Two players who likely won't draw as much interest however have now both been placed on waivers, according to Elliotte Friedman.
Friedman reports that both Milos Keleman with the Utah Hockey Club and Marcus Sylvegard of the St. Louis Blues have both been placed on waivers for the purpose of contract termination.
Keleman joined the Arizona Coyotes back in 2022 as an undrafted forward out of Slovakia, and while he got 14 games with the team during that season, but since then, he's struggled to catch on.
On top of that, he's infamous in Utah for scoring the first goal in franchise history during the 2024/25 pre-season... Unfortunately however, it was on his own net.
As for Marcus Sylvegard in St. Louis, he's only just arrived in North America, playing his first season in the AHL for the Springfield Thunderbirds, with the 25-year old tallying a solid 10 goals and 21 points during his first 35 games with the team.
According to a Blues reporter, the former undrafted forward is heading back to Sweden before even completing his first season in North America, potentially ending his NHL dreams before they've even begun.
Ultimately, neither player has proven they can consistently compete at the NHL level, and now, it appears they will have some work to do if they want to get to that level moving forward.
