Brad Treliving officially begins contract negotiations with Tyler Bertuzzi
Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving has officially begun contract negotiations with Tyler Bertuzzi per NHL insider David Pagnotta.
During the 2023 NHL offseason, Brad Treliving landed one of the top free agents on the market, Tyler Bertuzzi, on a one-year deal. He performed well for the Leafs providing some snarl and secondary goal-scoring as he potted 21 goals and 43 points.
He is now a pending unrestricted free agent and will be looking for a long-term contract and it looks like the Leafs want to retain him as Brad Treliving has started contract negotiations with Bertuzzi per insider David Pagnotta.
"It's still very early in the process to project where this will go, but the #LeafsForever have started contract discussions with pending UFA winger Tyler Bertuzzi."
Bertuzzi is due for a lengthy contract, likely five or more years, which will take him to his mid-30s, and is projected to have a contract worth over $5 million per year.
Hopefully, Brad Treliving and Bertuzzi can reach an agreement that keeps the forward in Toronto till the twilight of his career.
