Jarome Iginla's son Tij speaks about potentially being drafted by the Flames
NHL legend Jarome Iginla's son Tij Iginla is expected to be a first-round pick in this year's draft and today he spoke about the possibility of being drafted by his dad's Calgary Flames.
Tij Iginla who is a consensus top 15 prospect for the upcoming 2024 NHL Draft was recently interviewed about the draft. He was asked if he had thought about potentially being drafted by his dad's former team the Calgary Flames. Tij Iginla admits that it would be a cool experience but he is keeping an open mind.
It sounds like it would be a lot of fun and would be a cool opportunity, he said. Obviously, I don't know exactly how things are going to shake out, and I'm going to try not to speculate too much, but I know they are there and at pick nine or whatever it is, and I guess we will have to see how it goes, but that would definitely pretty cool.
After talking about the draft Tij Iginla acknowledged that is only the beginning for a prospect. He knows that to even get close to his father's accomplishments a lot of hard work and dedication will have to come next.
Yeah maybe a little bit, but he had a pretty strong career so draft only means so much, he said. I'll have to start chipping away at those achievements if I want those bragging rights.
With the Calgary Flames selecting at 9th overall they could be in a prime position to select Tij Iginla. However, Tij has been flying up draft boards as the year has gone on and could end up just out of the Flames' reach.
