Brendan Dillon is set to become a UFA this offseason if a deal isn't done between him and the Winnipeg Jets this year. The Surrey, B.C. native has now said that he hopes that means he can become a Vancouver Canuck. NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal has revealed that the Canucks had interest in him in the past as well.
Dillon is having a standout year with the Winnipeg Jets' notoriously good defence. He has 16 points in 55 games played, however, more notably, he is an impressive plus-15 rating on the year.
The Vancouver Canucks could very well be the team to be on come the offseason, especially if they are able to turn regular season success into playoff success. This season is clearly an inflection point for the club, which will make it a lot easier for management to bring in free agents this offseason. However, they do have a bigger fish to fry when it comes to singing an extension in Elias Pettersson.
We will have to wait and see if Dillon becomes a free agent in the first place, and if Vancouver can afford his services.
