Unfortunately for the Coyotes, after a few seasons of not living up to expectations they ended up trading him to the Chicago Blackhawks, where he formed very good chemistry with Patrick Kane and Alex Debrincat, who was also a teammate of his in Erie.
When the Blackhawks announced they would be entering a rebuild last season, they let the at the time 24 year old center walk in free agency, which to some was very strange for relatively young center who scored 22 goals and 48 points in 69 games.
So a few days into free agency, the Washington Capitals were very happy to swipe up this young center, and he has fit into Washington nicely, often playing on a line with Alexander Ovechkin.
To this point this season, Strome has scored 11 goals and 36 points in 52 games.
The Washington Capitals have now announced that they've re-signed Strome for 5 more years with an AAV of $5,000,000.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE STROME‼️
The Washington Capitals have re-signed center Dylan Strome to a five-year contract extension. Strome's contract will carry an average annual value of $5.0 million.#ALLCAPS Washington Capitals (@Capitals) February 3, 2023
