Jakob Chychrun has been the big fish on the back end for the trade targets this entire season. His skill set, his age and his team friendly contract make him very desirable for many teams in the league who are looking to make an upgrade on the blue line.
Last night the Arizona Coyotes were playing, but they held Chychrun out of the lineup as a trade was apparently close. Well, here we are the next day and it sounds like a deal has finally been finalized.
Nick Kypreos has posted the following:
Sounding like a Jakob Chychrun @LAKings @ArizonaCoyotes trade centered around 2021 8th overall pick
Brandt Clarke. #RealKyperandBourne
The Kings were looking for an upgrade on the left side of their defence core and it looks like they just got it. The Coyotes are getting an absolute stud in return as Brandt Clarke was just a beast for Team Canada in the World Juniors, helping them to the Gold Medal. He also looked very good in the few games he played for the Kings this season, and has 10 goals and 26 points in 14 games since being returned to the Barrie Colts in the OHL.
It's also rumoured a goalie swap could be added as well:
