The Chicago Blackhawks have been turning heads all week, especially with the haul they got at the NHL Entry Draft. While much of the attention has been focused there, the Blackhawks made some sneaky business deals.
Behind all of the players being drafted on Wednesday, the Chicago Blackhawks made an interesting move. Kyle Davidson went out and acquired pending unrestricted free agent
Corey Perry from the Tampa Bay Lightning, in exchange for a 7th round pick. The move was a surprise to many, who had assumed Perry would hit the FA market on July first.
There was no word as to whether to not Perry would re-sign with Chicago, but we now have our answer.
Perry Offered Massive Deal
According to Elliotte Friedman, the same person who broke the Perry trade, the Blackhawks will be bringing Perry on for a whopping salary of $4 million next season.
This is an incredibly large contract, especially when you consider his last three contracts, with Tampa Bay, Montreal, and Dallas, which have all been pretty low in dollar amount.
Chicago clearly wants Perry on their team and will do anything to make it happen.
