Newly-hired Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving certainly landed himself in the hot seat when he took one his new job.
The team has several key negotiations that need to take place over the next one-to-two seasons. The latest report from an insider suggests thing with one of them aren't going well.
"According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, while appearing on 630 CHED with Bob Stauffer, things have stalled, and it's something to watch; take a look." -
BladeOfSteel.comIn his report, Friedman stated that is "wasn't going great" between
William Nylander and Treliving, adding "If that doesn't change, that's a situation to watch."
The Leafs have another full season before Nylander finishes up his current contract. This is not one you wait around for, though. Especially since he's an unrestricted free agent when it ends.
Before landing the deal he is currently on, Nylander sat out the first two months of the 2018-19 season before a new contract was finally signed on December 1st, 2018.
Nylander seems willing and able to play hardball. This is going to be a tough one. Nylander's cap hit for next season is $6.92 million. He would get much more on the open market, no question.
