In a year where we have seen former top prospects, Stanley Cup Champions and other big name players be placed on waivers, we get another day where we see a former top prospect hit the wire.
First, the New York Rangers made a big trade today to bring in former 40 goal scoring Vladimir Taranseko. Due to this, they needed to make some roster moves, which meant putting former top prospect Libor Hajek on waivers.
Hajek was a former 2nd round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning, but was traded from the Tampa Bay Lightning with Vladislav Namestnikov, Brett Howden, round 1 pick in the 2018 draft (Nils Lundkvist) and conditional round 2 pick in the 2019 draft (Karl Henriksson) to New York Rangers for Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller.
The Philadelphia Flyers also placed on waivers today, Linus Hogberg was placed on waivers for the purpose of contract termination. The 24 year old former 5th round pick has struggled in his time with North American hockey and it looks like both parties have seen enough of each other.
Placed on NHL waivers today: Libor Hajek (NYR).
