After suddenly taking a leave from the Golden Knights, Alex Pietreangelo was taking some heavy criticism for ''abandoning'' the team while they were so full of injuries, but it turns out he had a very good reason and we would have all done the same.
While we all love to see our teams win, we all need to remember that hockey is just a game, and the players are just people. Some times definitely come before hockey and family is definitely one of those things.
Today Pietreangelo officially returned to the Golden Knights and made the announcement to the media on why he was away.
His 4 year old daughter originally caught the flu, and then from this developed a lesion on her brained which unfortunately caused her to lose her motor skills. She ended up being hooked up to a feeding tube.
Thankfully for Alex and his family, his daughter have dramatically improved and she is now up and walking. According to the doctors, she is expected to make a full recovery.
Pietreangelo is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Golden Knights host the New York Islanders.
