We saw it last week ahead of the NFL's first playoff action, and this week we see it once again, as the NHL has been forced to change the time of a major showdown.

Detroit battle Tampa Bay twice in one day

This time, the Detroit Red Wings vs. Tampa Bay Lightning matchup has been forced to move from 5pm ET to 7pm ET, with the Lions set to take on the Buccaneers at 3.

NHL has moved the Jan. 21st game between #GoBolts and #LGRW from 5 PM EST to 7 PM EST, likely due to the recently scheduled NFL playoff game between #RaiseTheFlags and #AllGrit that starts at 3 P.M.

(coincidence that it's Tampa vs Detroit in both leagues on the same dayright?)

Both games are set to be absolute blockbusters, and given that fans may see their NFL teams in a playoff game only once or twice a year (for Detroit it hasn't been close to that many), so to move an NHL game's time given that they play 82 per year, it makes total sense.

Thankfully nothing drastic had to happen, as the game was only delayed two hours, but it's something to note for fans of these teams that will have their hands full on that day.
