Tonight's game 3 between the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes is pivotal for Boston.

Down 2-0 in the best of 7 series in the opening round of the NHL playoffs the Bruins season is on the line if they lose tonight and go down 3-0 to the Hurricanes.

Boston has been outscored 10-3 by Carolina so far in the series, and will need to inject some life into their offense (and defense), if they hope to make a run for the cup this year.

With their backs against the wall head coach Bruce Cassidy has shown a willingness to shake-up his line-up. Hampus Lindholm was injured in game 2, so Mike Rielly will be stepping into that top pairing spot with Charlie McAvoy.

With Carolina putting up 5 goals in each game of the playoffs against so far Cassidy is also switching starting goalies from Linus Ullmark to Jeremy Swayman.

It remains to be seen if these changes will help Boston, but Cassidy shows an adaptability essential in a NHL head coach.

«I don't think the scores reflect how close the games were, So, that's a positive for our group. It's not like we've been dominated in every area. We've been dominated on the scoreboard certainly, so we got to fix our shooting percentages and get there's down. Other than that, our game is not bad to honest with you. We got to finish. Hopefully get a lead and put them on their heels a little bit.»
