Last night the Lightning played the Islanders and Anthony Cirelli had himself an extremely eventful night albeit in very limited minutes. Late in the first period Cirelli picked up a puck in front of the Islanders net and fired it home to make the score 2-1 marking what would eventually stand as the game winning goal.
Halfway through the second period Brock Nelson took a run at Alex Killorn and sure enough the first teammate to Killornsl's defense was Cirelli. Cirelli and Nelson dropped the gloves and Cirelli ended up with 2, 5 and 10 for his troubles. Putting him in the box for the rest of the 2nd period and start of the 3rd.
After finally serving his 10 minute misconduct Cirelli returned to the ice for his first shift at 10:39 of the 3rd period only to get struck by a puck to the face 17 seconds later which ended his night for good. After the game teammate Alex Killorn shared a photo of Cirelli on his Instagram and it's not a pretty sight.
After the game Jon Cooper shared the following statement:
It's good to hear Cirelli is okay and amazing to see all he accomplished in 9:47 of ice time.
