Cole Caufield Takes a Shot at His Brother After Signing With the Leafs
The Caufield Brothers: A Different Story.
The Montreal Canadiens' young star, Cole Caufield, could be on his way to having a breakout season in the NHL. After an injury limited him to 46 games last season, he will look to make a major impact in Montreal.
Caufield, 22, signed an eight-year deal valued at $7,850,000 AAV early in the summer.
His brother, Brock, who played the last five seasons with the University of Michigan, went the other way and got a deal in Toronto, the Habs' biggest rivals.
Cole Takes a Shot at Brock After He Signed in Toronto
Brock, 24, makes his professional debut as he signed a one-way AHL deal with the Marlies.
In a recent interview, Cole commented on his brother's situation and made a subtle jab at his choice to join the Maple Leafs:
"#Habs Cole Caufield on his older brother, Brock, who signed with the #Leafs organization this summer: "they got a really good guy; a hard worker, loves the game, does all the right things. I think he picked a tough location but I'm pumped up for him."
It's great to see that Cole's pumped for him, even if he joins the rival team!
Toronto is indeed a tough location. Not only is it the biggest market in the NHL, but they also have a lot of talent on the team and significant depth on the right wing, Brock's position.
He'll use this year with the Marlies to showcase his talents in hopes of getting another deal next summer. If not in Toronto, then somewhere else.
