After a disappointing playoff run with the Rangers, it now appears as though Patrick Kane is set to make a huge decision in free agency.
A homecoming on the way?
After over a decade with the Chicago Blackhawks, Kane is likely to join the third team in his NHL career ahead of the 2023-24 season, and now, it appears likely that the team he joins will be his hometown Buffalo Sabres.
Darren Dreger on Sabres Live says that the Sabres have «tremendous» interest in Patrick Kane.
According to a report from TSN's Darren Dreger, the Sabres are likely the team most interested in the veteran forward as they look to finally end their playoff drought this season.
A perfect situation
A year or two ago, this couldn't have been a worse match for Kaner, but now, the Sabres young, emerging stars have become capable of winning big hockey games, and with almost $9 million in cap space, the Sabres have more than enough to make a deal here.
Patrick Kane continues to rehab from his hip surgery. He's been doing so in the Toronto area since July and requires at least another month. We know Buffalo has interest. He could help a lot of teams when healthy.
It's been reported that Kane is looking for a multi-year deal to end his career, and there's no better match on and off the ice than the Buffalo Sabres, and unless things change, this could be a reunion that shakes the Eastern Conference to its core.
