Earlier this week, NHL insider Davig Pagnotta revealed that seven teams were interested in JT Miller.
Pagnotta refused to tell us all seven clubs though, only revealing a few of them.
Now it appears that one of those mystery teams may be the New Jersey Devils as NHL insider Cam Robinson revealed that he sees 'smoke' around the team on this issue.
Naturally, fans immediately began to speculate that the Canucks could snag former 2nd overall pick Simon Nemec as part of the return if a deal were to take place between the two clubs.
This is because Nemec is reportedly unhappy in New Jersey after being sent back to the AHL.
Nemec has gotten into just 9 games with the Devils this season, recording a single assist.
This comes after last season where he played 60 games in the NHL, putting up 3 goals and 19 points.
As a former 2nd overall pick and a right-shot defenseman, Nemec alone could provide nearly enough value to bring in a player like JT Miller.
Whether or not the Canucks would be interested in him remains to be seen though.
After all, the team's blueline is set on offense with Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek.
Of course, the Canucks could still deal Miller to the Devils without asking for Nemec in return.
It is hard to say exactly what a deal would look like in that case, but it is safe to assume at least one high-draft pick and one A-rated prospect would be going the other way.
Regardless, be sure to stay tuned to see how this drama ends as Miller could be traded any day now.
