The Washington Capitals were hoping to have another long playoff run but unfortunately it didn't pan out after losing to the President Trophy winning Florida Panthers in 6 games.
The good news for Alex Ovechkin though was able to return his home country and spend an extended summer with his family. Something he hasn't been able to do with the COVID pandemic.
Alex had his wife and children attended a Caps game in early April, but it was the last time Ovechkin had seen his family.
So you can guess that the reunion was obviously very emotional for Ovechkin and his family who's given so much of his life for us hockey fans to enjoy, it's nice to see him have this beautiful moment.
