The other day, Mike Yeo and the Philadelphia Flyers organization decided to make Keith Yandle a healthy scratch, which ended his NHL record ironman streak at 989 games.
Yandle played in the game after that against the Blue Jackets but it didn't go very well, being a -2 in the game and only getting 10:47 of ice time.
There have been a lot of people very unhappy with the way the Flyers handled this, including current and former players.
Now we have former NHL coaches stepping in to give their opinion. Bob Hartley who has coached the Avalanche, Thrashers, Flames and currently coaching over in Russia, was not afraid to speak his mind on this situation.
"You are eliminated and you prefer to insert a guy who is 28 years old, it's a lack of respect. Keith is a great person, at worst play him as the 12th forward and don't play him a lot,"
He also spoke on how the Arizona Coyotes were thoughtful and respectful on how they handled Kessel's streak when he had to leave the game for the birth of his child.
"A few weeks later, you see an organization like the Flyers doing something like this? The player who replaced him played only 10 minutes, it's embarrassing,"
The Flyers should be ashamed.
