Carr Passes
The NHL Alumni Association announced last night that Gene Carr passed away.
The NHL Alumni Association is deeply saddened to learn that Gene Carr has passed away at the age of 72.
Gene was drafted 4th overall to the @StLouisBlues in the 1971 draft. Gene would play 465 regular-season games, scoring 215 points in the @NHL with the Blues, @NYRangers, @LAKings, @penguins, and Atlanta Flames.
His exceptional skating and flowing blonde hair wasn't all Gene was known for; he was also known for loving his teammates and having some celebrity friends, including the Eagles rock band. His stories were nothing short of unbelievable.
We send our deepest condolences to Gene's family, friends, and former teammates during this very difficult time.
Carr played in 8 total NHL seasons scoring 215 points in 465 games. He saw his most productive season come in 1977-78 after he was traded to the Penguins where he scored 17 goals and 54 points in 70 games. Before he was traded that season, he had two goals in five games for the Kings.
We send out condolences to the Carr family and Gene's loved ones during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
