GM Breaks One Of The Most Embarrassing Records Possible
Senators GM Pierre Dorion has broken one of the most embarrassing records a GM could possibly have.
Pierre Dorion has set a record that no GM would want to have by keeping his job after six straight seasons of missing the playoffs.
Dorion has been the Senator's GM for 7 seasons and has brokered many trades that have had many calling for his firing.
Dorion's Terrible Trade History
Dorion has traded away many quality assets but the most recent blunder is the
Alex DeBrincat debacle.
Last year, he traded away the 7th pick, the 39th pick, and a third-round pick to acquire DeBrincat.
However, after a lackluster year which saw DeBrincat score 27 goals and 66 points, the Senators and Dorion were forced to sell him for less than what they bought him for.
While these are fine assets, they do not equate to the 7th overall pick alone. Now, Chicago has a future star defenseman in
Kevin Korchinski and Detroit has their goal scorer while Ottawa is left with Dominick Kubalik and a late first-round pick.
A similar situation happened with
Matt Duchene which saw the Senators give up Kyle Turris, Andrew Hammond, a prospect, a third-round pick, and the pick that turned into
Bowen Byram for Matt Duchene.
They then followed this up by trading Duchene two years later for Vitaly Abramov, Jonathan Davidsson, and the pick that turned into Lassi Thompson.
Once again, a massive loss of assets in a short amount of time because of a poor investment. However, Ottawa has faith in Dorion and they hope to end their playoff drought next season.
