The NHL is no stranger to controversy, and many fans know that by now. So it didn't come as a surprise to many when they found themselves in trouble once again.
NHL Under Fire For Retirement Post
NHL goaltender Thomas Greiss announced his retirement from professional hockey yesterday, and it was met with mixed reactions.
Greiss has landed himself in hot water over the years over some racist opinions of his that were shared online, as well as what some considered to be subliminal messaging in his goaltending mask.
Not only has Greiss been banned from the German National Team for his views, but he's been accused of being a neo-nazi by many, mostly stemming from what many consider to be a reference to the SS on his helmet.
It's safe to say the NHL didn't do their homework on this one, which isn't a surprise to anyone.
