Mikayla Demaiter took the internet by storm a few months ago with when she posted a few of her Instagram photos of her playing goalie.
Mikayla had some very good stats as a goalie posting a 2.25GAA & .909 SV% in the PWHL for the Bluewater Hawks!
After initially pursuing her dream to become a professional goalie, she decided to retire and dedicate her time to modelling. While this was not an easy decision for her to make, it was reported by republicworld.com that it was because of a knee injury that required surgery.
In her retirement post she wrote; "It is time to say goodbye to ice hockey. It is time to turn the page and move to the next chapter of my life, for the first time you will not be my number one focus. I am excited about the future because everything you have taught me will allow me to succeed. There will still be early mornings, new adventures and new friends, and I hope that I embrace them with the same love and passion I did for you."
Now with over 1 million followers on Instagram, she has become quite the Icon in not only the modelling community, but the hockey community as well!
