Things are looking up all of a sudden for the Montreal Canadiens, after having a terrible season and finishing dead last.
The Montreal Canadiens had luck in their favour and won the 2022 NHL draft lottery and for the 6th time in the franchise history they will pick first overall.
Many believe the player that will go first overall is Kingston Frontenacs Shane Wright.
However there's also some good players in this year's draft that make it a tough decision but it looks like Kent Hughes may have some tougher decisions to make after the rumour of some trade offers for the first overall pick.
This comes from hockey insider Jeff Marek and the 32 thoughts podcast where he states that the Arizona Coyotes should trade their 3rd overall pick and next years 1st round pick to the Habs for #1.
What makes this interesting is Logan Cooley is the projected 3rd overall pick, but some speculate the Canadiens could be drafting him with the 1st overall pick, so if they do this the Canadiens could have two chances at next year's grand prize hockey phenom Connor Bedard.
«I think it's obviously a very exciting outcome for us. Our fans I'm sure will be thrilled especially with the draft being held in Montreal to have that kind of anticipation and the excitement leading into it. So we're excited I think it's a great opportunity for our organization to start taking strides toward returning to the playoffs here,» - Kent Hughes
So could Hughes be tempted to go back on his words and move this first overall pick?
