Jack Eichel is 3rd player in last 40 years to join a 'special' list that you do not want to be on
As hockey fans we know the NHL entry drafts can be extremely frustrating. Your team steps up to the podium and you hope your team is going to draft a star player to help your team become a Stanley cup contender. But unfortunately alot of players don't make the team or live up to the expectations.
Hockey reporter Darren Haynes shared an interesting stat yesterday on Twitter about the NHL draft you may not know.
"In the 40-year span from 1978 to 2017, only 4 players selected first or second overall in the NHL draft have not appeared in a playoff game. Florida Panthers Sam Reinhart will graduate from this list this year. Las Vegas Golden Knights Jack Eichel will not. The others are former Edmonton Oilers pick Nail Yakupov and former Atlanta Thrashers Patrik Stefan are the two others."
