If you grew up a hockey fan you've probably seen some hockey fights. It's the one thing you can do in hockey that you can't in other sports such as baseball, basketball, football, or soccer.
Though fighting, and the players labeled enforcers are going extinct in the NHL, there are still some tough guys and some good hockey fights.
Last night Florida Panthers Radko Gudas nailed Nashville Predators Nick Cousins with a big bodycheck which appeared to be clean, but Cousins teammate Luke Kunin felt he had to stand up for his teammate and challenged Gudas to a fight.
Should the NHL step in and punish the instigator of the fight, with harsher punishments? I like my hockey fights just as much as the next guy, but we don't need to see fights after every big body check when checking is a big part of hockey.
The NHL definitely needs to look further into this and consider handing out a 4 minute penalty to the instigator or worse, which might get players to think twice before dropping the gloves.
