Things got a little hairy in the third period last night in the Battle of Alberta when Mike Smith went out to play the puck and got absolutely clobbered by Milan Lucic.
The NHL Department of Player Safety chose not to give Lucic a suspension or fine for his actions.
Today, Milan Lucic spoke to the media about the hit and his response was perfect and probably pretty accurate:
"definitely wasn't trying to hit him, I was braking... ...if I did charge, we both wouldn't be playing tomorrow"
It will be interesting to see game 4 tomorrow night and see what the Oilers do to get Lucic back for this hit.
But for the record, Lucic's statement is pretty accurate, if that large man wanted to hurt someone, he probably could easily do it.
