Major Update on William Nylander's Future from Elliotte Friedman
Since he met with Elliotte Friedman a few weeks ago, William Nylander provided no update whatsoever on his current contractual situation with the Maple Leafs.
New Development
Friedman provided an update on his situation.
"I do believe he's being sincere when he says he wants to be a Leaf for the rest of his career. I believe that's where his mind is at. We're at an impasse about what each side thinks the numbers should look like... but I haven't gotten the sense that anything is particularly close at this time."
Leafs for Life?
According to Friedman, Nylander wants to stay in Toronto. But can they reach a deal?
If they can't make it, a trade at the deadline would be likely.
Getting a top defenseman in return for Nylander, weeks before the playoffs, could be a smart move by Brad Treliving.
