After starting off the season poorly, which led to debates like Sheldon Keefe being fired, the Maple Leafs have rebounded and are now 12-0-3 in their last 15 games.
Last night they played the Anaheim Ducks and their 'backup' goaltender Ilya Samsonov, recorded his second shutout of the season, which just happen to be back to back, when they beat the Ducks 7-0.
When he was interviewed after the game by Sports Illustrated and the Hockey News, Mike Stephens said that the Leafs goaltender was wearing his 'game bet' over his shoulder and made a funny comment:
Through 11 games this season, Samsonov has a league leading 1.87 goals against average and .933 save percentage. He is 9-2-0 on the year, and showing teams that he is capable of being a starting goaltender after years of disappointment in Washington.
Kyle Dubas is starting to actually look like a genius for his offseason goaltending decisions.
