Last night the New York Islanders played host to the Toronto Maple Leafs, which ended up as a dominating 7-2 win for the Islanders.
During the first period of the game, Leafs forward Noel Acciari, delivered a questionable hit to Islanders forward Brock Nelson.
Nelson turned on the play and was hit from behind by Accirari in a vulnerable position, which resulted in no penalty on the play. But when a star player on the team is hit, you know the person delivering the hit is going to have to answer for it.
In the third period with the time whining down, Islanders enforcer Matt Martin went after Acciari and challenged him to a fight, which he accepted.
It did not go well for Accirari:
You need to give Accirari a lot of respect for accepting the fight with an actual fighter, but you need to give even more respect to Martin for restraining himself when he saw Accirari was in a vulnerable position.
