On most nights, if you ask anyone in the NHL, they would express their uncertainty about what constitutes goalie interference and what does not.
However, after the call made in tonight's game, it appears that the definition may be more unclear than ever.
During the first period of the game between the Carolina Hurricanes and Ottawa Senators, Brent Burns scored a goal that most people believed would be disallowed immediately.
The play involved Seth Jarvis colliding with Alex DeBrincat and sliding into the Ottawa goal.
It seems that Jarvis did not make much of an effort to exit the goal area, as Cam Talbot struggled to make a save. As a result, Burns was able to score the opening goal of the game.
