It only took one season for the Philadelphia Flyers to want to cut notorious locker room cancer Tony DeAngelo out of their future.

Flyers Looking To Cut Ties With DeAngelo

Tony DeAngelo has been a notorious player throughout his career. Originally drafted by Tampa 19th overall after being a consensus top-five talent, his personality struggles were evident from day one. DeAngelo was suspended in the OHL for using slurs during his draft year which plummeted his draft stock.

Then Tampa traded his rights to Arizona in exchange for merely a second-round pick despite being a top prospect. Arizona then traded his rights to New York where he broke out as an offensive defenseman with top puck-moving abilities.

However, a locker room fight resulted in DeAngelo being bought out by the Rangers where he was then signed to a $1 million deal for one year with Carolina. He saw a renaissance in Carolina but his issues continued to prevail with things like this.

After that, he was traded to Philly and now they are looking to part ways with him after only one season.

DeAngelo's offensive game has been his bread and butter but he consistently gets burned on the defensive side. He tends to get burned on all ends when not paired with an extremely responsible partner.

He will have one year left on his deal worth $5 million which could be interesting but Philly may need to retain salary in order to recoup assets for DeAngelo whom Chuck Fletcher gave up three picks for (2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounders).

While the offensive talent is undeniable, is the baggage too much for any team to worry about bringing DeAngelo on?
