Since this kid entered the league during the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs, we all knew he was going to be something special. Makar played in 10 games during that playoff run and registered 1 goal and 5 assists.
His 'rookie' season, he followed up that playoff run with 12 goals and 50 points in 57 games, and has just continued to build on his stats column each season. Last year he 28 goals and 86 points in 77 games, and followed that up with an amazing 29 points in 20 games to help lead his team to a Stanley Cup.
The soon-to-be 24 year old fell to the Colorado Avalanche at 4th in the 2017 NHL Entry draft, after being passed over by the Devils, Flyers and Stars. It has been reported that the Flyers scouting staff heavily pushed for them to take Makar, but Ron Hextall (GM at the time) really wanted Nolan Patrick, and well, that didn't turn out.
Well this 4th overall pick, last season joined an elite group of two other defenceman to win the Norris, Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup in the same season, and now it looks like he has a very good chance to break another record:
So if Makar gets 20 points in his first 28 games or fewer, he'll be the fastest D to 200 points ever?
