After spending years with the tandem of Mike Smith and Mikko Koskinen, the Oilers finally believed they had a true number one goalie in their system who could help them win a stanley cup.
Six months later, Jack Campbell has been everything but what they expected.
24 games into the season, the Oilers hold a 13-11-0 record, which Jack Campbell has been the starting goalie of record in 13 of them. At the moment he has a 7-6-0 record, which you'd think, okay he is winning games, but his goals against average is 4.12 and his save percentage is .872. These numbers are absolutely horrible and it's not getting better.
Luckily for the Oilers, Stuart Skinner has emerged this season as a very reliable goalie because if it wasn't for him, the Oilers would not be in a playoff position right now.
According to NHL Insider Frank Seravalli, there have been some conversations about sending Campbell to the AHL. They can definitely do this without worry as the no team will be picking up his contract, so they can easily waive him to get some time in the AHL to ''find his game''.
Would sending Jack Campbell to the AHL benefit the Edmonton Oilers?!

Let's hope that he figures things out or this will be one horrible looking contract for a team that already is lacking cap space.
