A radio host revealed that Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak had a supposed rift, and the Bruins captain fired right back at reporters today with his response.

The Boston Bruins are at the center of swirling rumors, but not everyone is buying into the buzz. A recent report claimed a significant rift between two of the team's biggest stars, David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand, suggesting tensions that could impact their on-ice chemistry.

It hasn't been easy for the Bruins so far this year, as not only have they fired their coach Jim Montgomery over one month ago, but they have now lost six games in a row.

But it wasn't long before Pastrnak responded to the allegations, and in a way that left little question.

Brad Marchand claps back at reporters

Now, Marchand has weighed in with a response of his own, and he's none too pleased. The longtime resident chirper and witmaster when it comes to the media dialed up an uncommonly serious tone to put a fork in the story.

«Zero truth to it. The fact that he's going to have a job after this is insane he can go pound sand, go back to the closet where no one knew where he was before.»

- Brad Marchand

The source of the controversy? A report from WEEI's Rich Keefe, stating that Pastrnak, who has 17 goals and 25 assists in 44 games this season, had expressed unwillingness to share a line with Marchand.

"The locker room is a disaster, and David Pastrnak is at the center of that. David Pastrnak has told the team he doesn't want to be on a line with Brad Marchand, and it may stem from Brad Marchand calling out Pastrnak for some of his play."

- WEEI's Rich Keefe

The story sent the fans' speculation into overdrive, but the reaction of Marchand, with his 15 goals and 18 assists in 44 games, showed he didn't take such claims lightly.

To this point, neither WEEI nor Keefe has commented on the backlash since Marchand's response.

With both players denying the report emphatically, the so-called rift seems to be more fiction than fact, which begs the question of why the story was written in the first place.
