Chicago Blackhawks top prospect Artyom Levshunov is facing a potential suspension after being ejected from his game today.

The Chicago Blackhawks have been one of the worst teams in the entire NHL over the past few seasons.

That has not changed this year as the team is currently in 31st place, only ahead of last year's worst team, the San Jose Sharks.

Even then, the Blackhawks have just four more points than the Sharks, with one game in hand.

That being said, one thing that comes from being so bad for so long is that the team's prospect pool starts to look extremely promising.

Of course, the Blackhawks already got their prize in 2023 when they selected Connor Bedard with the 1st overall selection, but their prospect pool remains one of the best in the league anyways.

That is in part due to 2024 2nd overall pick Artyom Levshunov. Levshunov is a 6'2", right-shot defenseman who is good in both ends of the ice.

This season he has 5 goals and 21 points in 46 games with the Rockford Icedogs of the AHL in his first season of pro hockey.

Unfortunately though, he crossed a line today as they were playing the Chicago Wolves.

The 19-year-old unleashed a violent cross-check to the head of a Wolves player, immediately earning a major penalty as well as a game misconduct.

It did appear as though he did not intend to get the player in the face with the blow, but unfortunately that is what happened, and players are always responsible for their sticks.

As such, Levshunov will likely be getting his first suspension of his professional hockey career tomorrow.

be sure to stay tuned to see how many games he will sit out.
