The Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson has been trying to trade away his top players for returns to help with a rebuild since he stated that the Blackhawks would be entering a rebuild back at the 2022 Trade Deadline.
With six weeks until the regular season, both Toews and Kane remain members of the Chicago Blackhawks. However, Kane and Toews have both admitted they do not want to stick around through a rebuild and hope to be moved.
Kane is in the final year of a contract that carries a cap hit of $10,500,000 signed with the Chicago Blackhawks. Kane was a 1st overall pick by the Hawks back in 2007 and has played 1,107 games for the team, but it looks like those days are now over.
For weeks there has been speculation on where Kane is going to be traded to and some of the favourites have been the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and the rumoured favourite right now has been the Edmonton Oilers.
It now appears though that a new team entering the sweepstakes, and that team is the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Jackets made a splash this offseason by landing the top player available in Free Agency, Johnny Gaudreau, and they also locked up former 40 goal scorer, 24 year old
Patrik Laine to a long term deal.
The Jackets are ready to play next season and according to NHL insider Nick Alberga, the Blue Jackets are now a team to watch in trying to land
Patrick Kane as well:
